Practical International Data Management - writing direction

Writing systems are read in different directions. Latin script is read from left to right and from top to botton. Arabic and Hebrew are read from right to left and from top to bottom. Chinese is read from top to bottom and from right to left, and Mondolian is read from top to bottom from left to right. Batak is read from bottom to top and from left to right.

Direction may change within a writing system - Arabic and Hebrew, for example, use Arabic numerals which are read from left to right, even within text being read from right to left.
